Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What is IMS training?

IMS training is structured learning that helps your people understand, implement and audit an integrated management system, one that combines two or more ISO standards such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001. Consultivo Academy offers three courses, awareness, implementation and internal auditor, each customisable and delivered in-house or online with a certificate of completion.

What are the three IMS training courses?

The IMS Awareness Course builds a shared understanding of the integrated system for all staff. The IMS Implementation Course teaches system owners how to design, document and roll it out. The IMS Internal Auditor Training teaches auditors to plan and run integrated internal audits to ISO 19011. Each runs on any combination of two or more standards.

What is the difference between the awareness, implementation and auditor courses?

Awareness is for everyone and explains what an IMS is and why it matters. Implementation is for the people building the system and covers how to design and document it. Internal auditor training is for those who will audit the system and covers how to plan, conduct and report integrated audits. They build on each other, from understanding to doing to checking.

Which ISO standards do the courses cover, and can we train on just two?

Yes, you can train on as few as two standards. The courses most often cover ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001, and can include ISO 50001, ISO 22000, ISO 27001 or others. Because the standards share a harmonized structure, the training adapts to whatever combination your organisation runs.

How long are the courses and are they certified?

The awareness course runs from half a day to a day, implementation from one to two days, and internal auditor training over two days. Multi-day programmes are available for full capability building. Every participant who completes a course receives a certificate of completion from Consultivo Academy.

Are the courses in-house or public?

Both. We run in-house, company-specific courses tuned to your standards and maturity, online or on-site, and Consultivo Academy also runs scheduled public online expert-led sessions for individuals and small teams.

What is the difference between an IMS internal auditor and a lead auditor?

An internal auditor conducts first-party audits of their own organisation's integrated system. A lead auditor leads audit teams and is usually associated with certification-body or third-party auditing. Our internal auditor training builds the competence needed to run effective internal audits to ISO 19011; ask us if you need a route towards lead auditor qualification.
