Independent E&S Performance Reporting as per IFC Standards
The customer is India’s leading stainless steel manufacturer with an annual melt capacity of 2.9 MT and an annual turnover of INR 35,700 crore (US $4.30 billion as of March’23). The Company’s product range includes stainless steel slabs, blooms, coils, plates, sheets, precision strips, blade steel, and coin blanks.
The purpose was to implement the expansion component in conformance with IFC Performance Standards and to conduct environmental & social due diligence (ESDD) to plan & initiate actions.
To safeguard environmental and social risks and adherence to IFC Performance Standards, we supported our customer to:
- Implement the Environmental and Social Management Plan as per the EIA Report and as
required by the Environmental Clearance - Develop and implement a Traffic /Road Safety Management Plan including consideration of
heavy loads transport for the construction phase - Develop project-specific Occupational Health and Safety and Labour Management Plans, including Workers Grievance Mechanism and Worker Accommodation Management for the
construction phase compliant with Indian requirements, IFC General EHS
Guidelines, Good international practice prior to the start of construction works.
A definite positive trend of improvements observed in the subsequent years.
