The CII – Consultivo ESG Readiness Report was officially launched at the CII West Bengal Annual Meeting 2025 on March 11 at Taj Bengal, Kolkata. Developed through extensive research among CII member companies, the report provides a comprehensive analysis of ESG adoption, industry trends, and challenges. It serves as a key resource for businesses seeking to integrate sustainability into their core strategies.
Key Findings: Progress and Gaps
The report reveals a strong awareness of ESG, with many businesses actively implementing sustainability initiatives. However, structured ESG roadmaps are still lacking across industries, with only 44.4% of surveyed companies having dedicated sustainability policies. While 77.8% monitor labor practices and 66.7% track energy consumption and emissions, significant gaps remain in supply chain sustainability and biodiversity conservation.
Challenges and Opportunities in ESG
Despite the progress, data quality issues, greenwashing concerns, and the absence of standardized ESG metrics continue to pose challenges. However, the study also identifies exciting opportunities—ESG-driven risk management, increased investor confidence, and regulatory compliance benefits. Businesses that proactively integrate ESG are better positioned for long-term growth and resilience in an evolving global market.
