National Safety Week: Knowledge Session on Behaviour Based Safety | Consultivo

A safe work culture is the composite outcome of the following three aspects: Psychological aspect – How people feel, Situational aspect – What organisation has, Behavioral aspect – What people do.

The Calcutta Regional Centre, Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers (CRC-IIChE), as part of the 48th National Safety Week, organised a safety initiative programme on “Cultivate & Sustain a Safety Culture for Building Nation” on 2nd March at Jadavpur University, Kolkata.

Consultivo, being committed to safety, aims to create a safety culture & spread safety awareness to improve workplace environment, secure human resources & incorporate safety values in our work culture & life style.

It was an engaging session facilitating two-way interaction with the participants where the difference between the unsafe conditions & unsafe behaviour responsible for most of the accidents were also highlighted. A knowledge session on “My Safety – My Value” by Saikat Basu, CEO & Chief Mentor, Consultivo accentuating the central theme on the importance of safe behaviour was focussed on the relationship between safety culture & safe behaviour. He discussed how our values, perceptions & climate can lead to safe behaviour which is one of the most critical pillars of building a safety culture across organisations

The programme began with a welcome note of address by the Chairman of Calcutta Regional Centre (CRC) and Prof. S. V. Satyanarayan, President, IIChE & and a brief note on the PSM group by Shri Abhijit Mitra. Shri S K Hazra, Former Managing Director, Aegis Logistics Ltd & Former Chairman, SHE committee, Indian Chemical Council was also one of the eminent speakers speaking on “How to build a sustainable safety culture”. The programme ended with a vote of thanks from Mr S K Roy, Vice Chairman, CRC.

This safety week initiative programme witnessed the presence of eminent people from industry, government organisations, academia including process safety managers & engineers, compliance auditors & officials. The core objective of the initiative was to spread awareness and renew the commitment of the people & employees of various organisations to be more aware & cautious towards the safety of their lives and incorporate a safety culture around them.
